Creating a Simple Camera Drybox

This time we will discuss how to create a storage device that must be owned by each photographer. storage device is called a drybox. Drybox has a tolerance of about 45-55% moisture to protect the camera from the parasitic fungus that can be your camera and lens. Then how to make a simple drybox with a bit of money but the quality is equivalent to the drybox expensive?

Equipment and supplies that can be found in the store equipment and home appliances and must be prepared include:
- Airtight Container
- 2-3 cm thick foam
- Hygrometer
- Silica Gell or granules absorb water
Airtight container
Serves as the main storage area, are airtight in order to avoid the seeds from the outside into the mold to proliferate. Keep the container volume adjusted to the camera, lens and accessories and is not recommended to enter the camera batteries (either lithium or AA / AAA) because it can be damaged by moisture level of less yag for the battery.

Foam
Serves as the base content of container and non-lubricating water-absorbing camera, so the water can be separated from the camera body / lens down into the foam. Buy a foam that is not too soft.

Hygrometer
A humidity measuring device space, which is generally small size of a fist. The normal rate for maintenance of humidity levels on the camera hygrometer shows between 45-55% and temperatures between 26-29 Celsius.

Silica Gell or Water Absorb Granules
The main component of controlling humidity. Serves to absorb moisture that exists in the container, with a high suction power. There are several different types of silica Gell, the Gell natural silica and blue (recommended). If you can not find silica Gell can replace it with a grain of water absorption are sold in supermarkets. Silica Gell usually found in the chemical store.

How to assemble drybox:
Prepare and attach a foam container that has been cut to the size of the container base. After that enter the camera / lens is positioned in the side dipaling container box (intended to prevent direct contact between the camera / lens and silica Gell). Then put the silica Gell on the other side of the face with a camera / lens, you can place the hygrometer in the empty space inside the container. After that do the experiment with containe seal, let stand for 5 minutes. Figures on the hygrometer will gradually go down to the number of tolerance, and if it continues to go down there to adjust the volume using silica Gell so it can enter in the numbers of humidity tolerance.

Not easy to make simple drybox? This way you can save more than half when buying a drybox which can be used directly. Further costs to be incurred only requires that you spend money to buy silica Gell who had exhausted their economic age (when the silica Gell has the ability to suck out it will change color). Good luck!
